This seven layer magic cookie bars recipe is technically 5 layer bars because I have 5 layers, but adding additional stuff can make them 7 layer.
Magic cookies are seven-layered. First is graham cracker crust, then walnuts, chocolate chips, coconut, & sweetened condensed milk. If you add 7th & 8th layers, try one of these variations.
Before adding sweetened condensed milk, add more layers. You can add pecans, other nuts, or flavoured chips for texture or flavour. Chocolate. White, milk, semisweet, or dark chocolate chips can be added.
Nuts, please. Pecans or walnuts work well. Flavor up. Add peanut butter, butterscotch, or toffee chips for additional flavour.
Fruit dried. You can add raisins, cherries, or cranberries. Flake coconut. Instead of shredded coconut, use flakes. Salt it. Add sea salt after the coconut for a sweet & salty flavour.
Crunchify. Saltines & Pretzels offer crunch. Fill the baking dish with graham crackers.
Press graham cracker crumbs into dish using a measuring cup or glass. Cut chilled bars. You can speed up the process by chilling them.
