The gloomy, steadfast Rottweiler is a herder and guard dog, integrating multiple intelligences. Rottweilers aren't as agile as other dogs on this list, but their bulk and brain make up for it.

Australian Cattle Dogs are intelligent and vigilant. The Cattle Dog's initial breed standard was based on the dingo, Australia's natural wild dog. Territorial and unfriendly to strangers.

German Shepherd

German Shepherds are bright workaholics who love essential jobs. This dog excels in protection, guiding the blind, and herding ducks. The trainability of German Shepherds is unmatched.

Border Collie

Border Collies are smart, logical, and problem solvers. They can learn hundreds or thousands of object names and follow complex directions well. Their herding behaviour is stimulated by youngsters or other pets. If you're not smarter than a Border Collie, don't get one.

Shetland Sheepdog

The tiny Shetland Sheepdog is a canine superstar when it comes to competitive obedience, agility, and interactive canine sports. In addition to their adorable appearance, these canines have kind personalities that make them devoted companions.


Brilliant Poodle. This dog can unlock doors, scale fences, and do middle school homework. Last one's a stretch. Standard is the smartest of the three sorts Toy, Miniature, and Standard. Standard Poodles excel at Westminster and agility trials.

Golden Retriever

We chose the Golden Retriever despite the Border Collie's intelligence. Thanks to their trainability and social intelligence, they're pleasant to cats. Goldens are dependable, quiet, and smart family dogs. Goldens aren't naturally the most obedient dogs.
